Dickson’s
The Thief of Time
 |

A major exhibition of work by internationally acclaimed artist
Jennifer Dickson
is scheduled for Wallack Galleries' fall 2006 season. The
Thief of Time exhibition includes recent
works in the following photo-based media: giclee and watercolour,
silver gelatin and cibachrome prints.
The Thief of Time opens on Friday, October 13, 2006
and runs until Saturday, October 28 at Wallack Galleries,
203 Bank Street in downtown Ottawa, Canada.
Included in the exhibition is Jennifer Dickson's most recent
portfolio, The
Gods, which deals with the love affair of the Roman
emperor Hadrian and a beautiful young Bithynian, Antinous.
The narrative is evoked by images of late Roman statuary photographed
by Dickson in museums in Turkey, Spain and England.
A second major body of work, Time
is the Thief of Time, captures stolen moments of
beauty in historic gardens, largely in England and Wales.
We see sweeping vistas in which clouds move over Snowdonia
and more intimate moments in spring gardens where fountains
play musically. Dickson's more recent explorations of the
Islamic gardens of Morocco and Spain (the prototype for many
renaissance gardens) round out the exhibition.
The Thief of Time marks Dickson's 70th birthday,
and celebrates her 30-year collaboration with Wallack Galleries.
